Buy Silicone Connecting Wire Directly from Manufacturer Therma

You source a silicone connecting wire from Therma directly from our own production in Lindlar, with no middleman and in tested quality. Therma has been making every piece by hand since 1991 and typically ships standard items within one week.

In our current range of connecting wires, you will find single- and multi-core versions with tinned copper conductors, matched to common Pt100 and thermocouple connections. The standard version with 4x1 mm² is suitable for the 4-wire circuit on a resistance thermometer and withstands temperatures up to 180 °C in continuous operation.

If a different number of conductors, a larger cross-section or a specific length is required, the wire can be configured in the shop or manufactured directly to drawing or STEP file. Therma manufactures in line with ISO 9001 and supplies on request with a matching inspection certificate 3.1.

Flexible Silicone Connecting Wire for Moving Measurement Points

A flexible silicone connecting wire shows its strengths wherever a wire is repeatedly bent, carried along or lightly pulled. The silicone insulation remains permanently elastic from minus 60 °C to 180 °C, while materials such as PTFE or fibreglass become noticeably stiffer in the cold.

Typical fields of application are robotics, test rigs, drag chains and installations subject to vibration. For mobile measurement points, the wire connects without difficulty to sheathed thermocouples or sheathed resistance thermometers without restricting the freedom of movement of the sensors. In food production, silicone is also valued for its cleanability and resistance to common media.

Compared to classic thermocouple cables, a silicone connecting wire carries the signal further via copper conductors once the reference junction has been reached. It therefore complements a thermal section made up of compensating or thermocouple cable ideally within modular measurement chains.

Temperature Range and Limits of a Silicone Connecting Wire

The temperature range of a silicone connecting wire lies between minus 60 °C and 180 °C in continuous operation. Peaks of up to 200 °C are possible briefly; for permanent operation, however, 180 °C should not be exceeded, because the cross-linking of the silicone ages faster under heat.

In a direct material comparison, silicone scores with high flexibility, good UV resistance and a very wide application window. With aggressive chemicals or process temperatures above 200 °C, PTFE or fibreglass have the advantage and are also part of our thermocouple range. For a fixed connection on a wire-type thermocouple, a silicone version is fully sufficient in most applications.

Criterion Silicone PTFE Fibreglass
Continuous temperature 180 °C 250 °C 400 °C
Flexibility very high medium low
Cold resistance down to -60 °C down to -190 °C down to -60 °C
Cleanability very good very good low

The table supports the choice when temperature, flexibility and cleanability have to be weighed against each other. In special cases, Therma evaluates the suitable material individually based on your specification and supplies a preliminary sample on request before series approval.

Personal Expert Advice for Your Silicone Connecting Wire

You receive personal expert advice for the right silicone connecting wire from Therma directly from staff who have been working with the material since the company was founded in 1991. In our family-owned business, advice is understood as a duty rather than an extra service, from the initial enquiry through to dispatch.

You give us the number of conductors, cross-section, length, desired end termination and area of application. You then receive a technically reviewed recommendation, often on the same working day. For special requests, a sketch, a data sheet or a STEP file is enough and our development department takes over the rest. Standard items leave our Lindlar plant within one week as a rule by UPS, and on request also by express.

You can reach us via the contact form for a binding quote request, an inspection certificate 3.1 or a quantity discount for larger orders. Therma understands temperature measurement as a long-term partnership with industry, research and motorsport.
