The compression cones used are made from Teflon. This offers the advantage that the sheathing thermocouple can be quickly replaced with another or the installation length can be modified several times. It is nevertheless recommended that a new compression cone be used each time. The disadvantage is Teflon’s limited temperature resistance of 200 °C maximum.
